It's The
Right Thing To Do
Currently, the WPA is seeking to have
the Site of the original Woodstock Festival placed on the
National Register of Historic Places.
The cultural and historical significance of this landmark,
gives rise to such an honor, and it has already been deemed
eligible for this recognition. NY state and federal tax
payer's dollars are being used to fund the development of the
Bethel PAC. Having this 37.5 acres of the Woodstock Site
listed on the National Register, should not only be expected
by the residents of NY state, it would be "the right
thing to do" - before construction begins. The Site is
eligible for the Register NOW. After construction is
completed, the intergity of the land may be lost, and so will
it's eligibility.
The initial requirement, before proceeding with the
application to the Register, is "owner support." In
the past three months, we have sent two certified requests to
the Gerry Foundation, asking for their consent. At this time,
our requests continue to be ignored.
It's right - to have the Woodstock Site listed on the National
Register.
It's right - for the NYS residents who all have a stake in
this Historical Landmark.
It's right - to answer a respectable question with a
respectable answer.
