The Woodstock
Stamp |

|
This stamp was issued on a limited
edition sheet from the U.S. post office in 1999, and has since
become very hard to locate in mint condition. The back of the stamp
reads, "From August 15 to 18, 1969, approximately 500,000
people gathered for the Woodstock Music and Art Fair. This festival
of peace and music celebrated the best of the '60s youth culture and
came to symbolize a generation.

The
first to perform at Woodstock, Richie Havens was also first to sign this
Woodstock album, presented to him by the founding members of the Woodstock
Preservation Alliance, at a concert on April 6, 2001. These albums, both
Woodstock and Woodstock Two, subsequently circulated across the US,
gaining signatures of original Woodstock alumni, in a show of support
for
the mission to perpetuate the Woodstock Spirit.

WOODSTOCK
By:
Charles John Quarto
This is a garden where people blossom
Flowers in a gathering
Every color you can imagine
It's easy to let the rainbow be the reason you wake up dancing
It always seemed that we were made of music
And that we were drawn by song
So there's no such thing as hidden beauty
It's all I see everywhere around me
And heaven's never wrong
There's lots of angels here disguised as children
Instead of the other way around
Bet you it was like that in the beginning
Before the trees turned into towns
Just for a moment there
I saw it clearly
A revolution with no gun
It's just that some of us got here early
Awaiting Everyone......
*Special Note: Charles
John Quarto was with Albert Grossman when he told Joni Mitchell not to
attend Woodstock, because the Monday Dick Cavet show should not be missed.
He wrote this beautiful poem for the newly released tribute to the
festival, performed by Runaway Express.
