This banner embraces the efforts that were put forth prior to the evolution of historic preservation. The Woodstock Preservation Alliance is the banner which the Preservationists stood under throughout their efforts for the historic preservation of the Woodstock Site. The "Dove Behind the Fence" was a signature logo used by the Woodstock Preservationists to raise awareness and the chain-link fence is symbolic of the fact that the privilege to walk freely on the Woodstock Site, is no longer allowed.

THE PETITION DOCUMENT

PRESERVE THE ORIGINAL “WOODSTOCK SITE”

To the Joint Lead Agency for the PAC.

Town of Bethel, Sullivan County, New York

We, the undersigned, urge you to consider an alternative to the current plans presented by the Gerry Foundation concerning the location of the "Core Activities" of the PA District. Although we support the PA District, we do not wish to see buildings placed on any part of the 38 acres known around the world as "The Woodstock Site".

Tell GF to find a different location for their buildings. Keep the Woodstock Site free of structures and in its natural state. Find the endless possibilities for the future.  Successful Re-creations of the 1969 music festival could be Bethel's biggest attraction; something no one else in the World could offer.

We call to you, the good people of the Town of Bethel, to preserve these 38 acres, by not allowing ANY building on this land. This is your opportunity to give Sullivan County the unique attraction of having a World-Class Performing Arts District side by side with the Historic and tastefully preserved  "Woodstock Site".
